Candied Bacon

Oh, Bacon. How much do I love you? (So much.)

I don’t remember making this for the first time, but I’ve made it many times since. People go crazy over it, and it’s hysterical since it has two ingredients. Please make this immediately. You won’t regret it. Even your skinny friends will eat a ton!

1 pound bacon, room temperature (not thick or thin, just original)
Brown sugar
Cinnamon, cayenne pepper, or black pepper (optional)

Cut each slice of bacon in half, crosswise. Place bacon on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet; one pound will fit on a baking sheet if they are all touching. Sprinkle about a teaspoon of brown sugar onto each slice. Add an optional ingredient if you like, but the brown sugar is great on its own. Rub it in so it’s more evenly distributed.

Bake in a 350-degree oven until bacon is crisp and sugar is bubbly, 15-20 minutes. Every 5-10 minutes, drain the grease off the bacon by tilting the corner of the pan into a little foil “cup” and shaking the pan to shift the bacon pieces back into place. Watch it like a hawk near the end, as there’s a fine line between crispy and burned. Set it on a fresh piece of parchment paper for a few minutes before serving.

  1. How about naming it “Satan”! I have a feeling that one bite of this would lead me to eatting a whole fat pig’s worth of this stuff! I guess I would die happy with smile on my face!

  2. I was shocked!! I didnt know bacon could get better than “just bacon,” but this was literally one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth!

  3. I do think “crack” qualifies as a possible name … So darn good!!! I ate more than I should last time you offered it up!
